TAAN holds members' gathering on labor issues

Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) on March 11 organized a gathering of its member agents to discuss on various demands put forth by representatives of different labor unions.
Two labor unions – All Nepal Tourism Workers' Union and Nepal Trekking, Travel and Rafting Workers' Union had put forth separate demands to TAAN about a year ago, including rise in the daily wage of workers.
The gathering decided to request Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) to form a special taskforce comprising representatives of all stakeholders to study demands raised by three major tourism workers' unions and take appropriate decisions accordingly.
The gathering suggested MoTCA to include representatives of MoTCA; Ministry of Labor and Transport Management; travel trade associations, including TAAN; all three labor unions; and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry; and some selected member agencies of TAAN in the taskforce.
